I think what you said made a bunch of sense. But, think about this, suppose you were to write a awesome post title? I mean, I don't wish to tell you how to run your website, but suppose you added a post title to possibly get people's attention? I mean %BLOG_TITLE% is kinda vanilla. You might peek at Yahoo's front page and note how they write post headlines to get people to click. You might add a video or a related pic or two to get readers interested about what you've written. In my opinion, it could make your posts a little livelier.
